Del Mar Fair '08
In keeping with tradition, my Mom & I made our annual trip to the Del Mar Fair. My Dad opted out years ago (about the time they started deep-frying the twinkies), and Will usually has to work, but my Mom & I are the die-hards who like to stay all day. The boys' attention spans have now made it impossible for us to browse through the Home Arts buildings, but they've redeemed themselves by becoming our chief entertainment in the kiddie rides section. My Mom spoils them by buying the $30 ticket package and then we laugh like crazy watching all of Luke & Ethan's antics --the highlight this year being the cheesiest canoe ride ever that Luke just adored. And then of course there's the food . . . fried zucchini, the donut machine, gyros, grilled corn . . . we hit all the classics this year. Here's some pic's:
My Grandparents met us for part of the day. Here we are at the "Swifty Pig Race," which Luke asks to go back to daily.

I'm always a little jealous that you live so close to your mom....
Looks like a wonderful day. I am sure your boys lept well that night.
i grew up 5 minutes from the fair and your post made me really home sick. because the fair always ends on the 4th of july, it will be 3 more years before i have a chance to take my kids again.
i'm glad that you had fun. thinking about the food makes my mouth water...grilled corn, caramel apples (you know the place where they cut up the apples for you and pour caramel over them), palapa (sp?) taco...yum!
the del mar fair definitely signifies that summer is here. and i must admit that i love the going in the buildings with the infomercial products. cute pictures!
Oh, how I miss the Del Mar Fair! What a fun tradition. Love the kiddie ride picts. Isn't it so fun watching your kids enjoy themselves? There is just nothing like it. My favorite is watching my baby girl laugh. I wish I could just listen to that all day long.
I love a carni, with all the fixin's, the OC fair is pretty good, but we will have to try the Del Mar.
Your parents are wonderful!
Where do you get your hair done? I need to get mine cut and colored for a family picture and your hair always looks so nice!
