Today I'm having seriously impaired judgement problems.
Bad Idea #1: Swim a lap of butterfly three laps into my workout.
Result: Pull a muscle in my neck and have shooting pain down my neck, back, and right arm. Lose the ability to turn my head to the left, which gets interesting while driving.
Bad Idea #2: Take Luke to get a haircut.
Result: Twenty minutes of being Luke's "human straight jacket", nearly getting stabbed in the eye with haircut scissors, apologizing profusely after Luke kicks hairstylist in the chest, leave the haircut store covered in a mixture of hair, tears, snot, saliva and no shred of pride left.
Bad Idea #3: Buy Ethan a new toy for being so good during his haircut.
Result: After a few hours of happily playing with his new foam dart gun, he gets distracted during a TV show and decides to chew the foam dart pieces to bits and spit them out all over the rug. WHAT?!
Bad Idea #4: Lay down with my kids to encourage them to take an afternoon nap.
Result: Ethan falls asleep, I fall asleep, Luke finds a highlighter pen on Will's nighstand and draws all over my bedspread and his clothes.
Bad Idea #5: Plan several days of crock-pot meals so I can "fix-it-and-forget-it."
Result: Promptly forget my plan and realize at 4:00pm that I've got to improvise tonight.
Maybe tomorrow morning I'll wake up with my brain intact.

If I die, I promise not to leave Jakson to you in my will. Currently, I am raising your child's twin-maybe someday they will find each other, be college roommates and torment everyone. Hopefully by then they won't be so set against having a hair cut. Better yet, all three of them could live together and see who could destroy the most stuff in the least amount of time. My money is on Jak with a close second to Luke, although I do have to give credit to Ethan's inventive chewing of the foam dart.
you always win. hands down. sorry the haircut didn't go better. i had high hopes for you this time!
I'm trying to be sad for you, but it's all just too funny. Maybe one day you'll think it's funny too...
wow - what a day!
yesterday i tried opening the door with a cookie in one hand, cell phone in the other. tripped going through the heavy door at work, but put smiles on the faces of employees who watched me stumble, it was funny, but such a bad choice. what a day, boys do that.
Poor Audra...I'd say you need some "me" time.
Oh Audra! Sorry your day didn't get better after the haircut! I sure hope yesterday and today have been better!!! Just think, you don't have to even think about another haircut for Luke for a few months, right?
So glad to hear other moms enter the day with high hopes only to have them dashed! You always keep me laughing!
Haircuts can be tough, sorry no suggestions for that. I hope your bedspread is okay!
Those days make for the BEST stories!!
