So, this is the first time I've been tagged. After listing her own, Candace asked me to share some of my
"Idiosyncrasies," or the little things that make me me. This will probably be really boring, and
embarrassingly revealing, but here's what I've come up with:
- I've had the same favorite color my entire life: PURPLE. I've had purple backpacks, purple bedspreads, purple nail polish and eyeliner, 2 purple prom dresses, purple bridesmaid dresses and flowers at my wedding, a purple KitchenAid Mixer and (thanks to a very indulgent husband) my bedroom is currently painted purple. I never get sick of it! Where I draw the line: purple cars--ick!
- I can't stand driving with the windows down.
- I love to buy, receive and wear pajamas and take any excuse to change into them as soon as I'm home, sometimes as early as 2:00 in the afternoon if it's a Sunday.
- I get obsessive about a new song I hear on the radio and I have to hear it over and over again. When I was 13, I worked tirelessly to record End of the Road by Boyz to Men onto a tape from the radio 13 times in a row (why didn't I just go buy the single-duh?!). My current favorite: Get Your Record On by Corrine Bailey Rae. I've listened to it 7 times today.
- I normally consider myself a pretty health conscious cook, but there is a certain casserole involving canned tamales, creamed corn and a Frito chip topping that I just love. I made it for a boyfriend in high school and he told me it was trailer-trash food. I made it for Will when we first got married and he politely told me no thanks. I've made it for my kids and they throw it off of their high chair trays. Now I just make it for myself on those rare nights I have all alone to savor the whole thing myself. Yum.
- I cannot, no matter how hard I try, learn to whistle. Will also claims that I don't know how to properly snap my fingers.
- I love to countdown to events, particularly during the holidays. At any given time from October on I can tell you how many days until Christmas and I make sure to open the little doors on my advent calendar first thing every morning in December. This way there's always something to look forward to.
- I watched so many episodes of Gilmore Girls while on bed rest with Luke that I started having dreams that the characters were relatives of mine.
- I love to shop at Crate&Barrel. Everything, from a dishtowel to fine china just looks better coming out of those black and white boxes.
- I cannot fall asleep unless I know that both boys are covered with at least one blanket and have one stuffed animal next to them.
If anyone has been inspired to share their own
idiosyncrasies, I'd love to hear them . . .

What is it about the color purple? Not the movie with Oprah Winfrey, but the actual color. People who love purple get obsessive about it and I've never found it to be that way with any other color. Hm.
p.s. - I didn't know you had a purple Kitchen Aid mixer but I should have known.
I loved reading that, cute post.
I didn't know that they made purple Kitchen Aids. Amazing. Funny, they had this new line of purple wedding stuff at Walmart and I saw it and thought of you :)
i'm so glad you don't have that boyz to men tape anymore... i remember having to listen to that.
